A Declaration to promote sexual pleasure: An Overview and Invitation for Feedback
(Session 1 of 2)
In May 2019, the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) Task Force on Sexual Pleasure, Sexual Health and Sexual Rights held an Expert Consultation on Sexual Pleasure in New York. This consultation convened to develop a World Congress Declaration to promote sexual pleasure as a means of promoting sexual health and sexual rights. Since May, we have been working to strengthen draft statements for the Declaration that were developed during the consultation which we will present on the final day of the 2019 Biannual WAS Meeting in Mexico. This working session will be the first of two sessions (on October 12 & 15th) designed to strengthen and finalize this Declaration. In this first session, we are asking for feedback and critiques from experts in the field with a focus on 5 areas: 1) Scientific Research; 2) Training & Education; 3) Health Service Delivery; 4) Advocacy; and 5) Political Awareness, Laws, Norms and Standards. The broader goal of this endeavor is to center sexual pleasure within the contexts of sexual health and sexual rights.
